Every September, the Willamette area of West Linn closes down three blocks of the old downtown area and has an art fair. This years fair was held the third weekend in September. My 15 year old daughter and I, attended during the break from a softball tournament (my 12 year old daughter plays) which was being held a few blocks away, at a local park and boat launch along the river.
There were about 30 local artists selling jewelry, wood sculptures, stained glass, custom made furniture and of course the traditional artists with paintings and photographs. We strolled along for about an hour while listening to a jazz band that was playing on a near by street corner. Talk about quality time with your kids. My oldest loves art.
I found an amazing artist named Barbara Forrest who has agreed to let me use some of her watercolors of Portland on my web site. You can view her incredible work at http://www.forrestgallery.net My only complaint was that there were no food vendors, and I was really hoping to avoid those hot dogs at the game. Kettle Korn does not qualify as a food group.
