I’ve just learned about the North Portland Tool Library located in N. Portland at 2209 N. Schofield. I haven’t been there yet, but plan on doing so soon.
They operate on a volunteer basis so hours of operation are limited to Tuesdays and Saturdays. Saturday is their primary day for picking up tools. Tuesdays are to allow borrowers to drop off tools when done and allow them to be readied for a Saturday pick-up.
Borrower’s need to register, be over the age of 18, have valid ID and be able to prove their address. Waivers also need to be signed as well as an agreement that the tools will be used as intended. There’s quite a variety of tools available and range from gardening tools, woodworking tools, power tools and miscellaneous hand tools.
They are also offering classes on tool skills. They hope to be able to offer additional classes on plumbing, carpeting, countertop installation, bike repair and more.
What a wonderful community offering!! You can learn more at their website:
